Post Falls Neighborhoods We Cover

Post Falls runs from the Washington line on the west to Coeur d'Alene on the east, with the Spokane River along its south edge (Post Falls city overview).

We cover the whole city: the older blocks near Spokane Street and Seltice Way, Ross Point and the river parks at Falls Park, Q'emiln Park, Corbin Park and Black Bay Park, and the subdivisions around Prairie Falls, Montrose, Greensferry Road, Poleline Avenue and Pleasant View Road. Most of Post Falls is young. Census figures put the median home at 2005, and about 28 percent of homes were built in the 2010s alone (Post Falls housing data).

Heating Repair Across the Rathdrum Prairie

Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene, Hayden and Rathdrum all sit on the Rathdrum Prairie, so they share the same long heating season: about 6,317 heating degree days a year and about 120 nights at freezing or below by NOAA's Coeur d'Alene normals (NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals). Across all of it, furnace repair and heat pump repair matter most from October to April, AC repair matters in July and August, and emergency furnace repair covers no-heat breakdowns in the cold months.

Housing age changes the work from town to town. Post Falls and Rathdrum, with median build years of 2005, mostly have high efficiency furnaces and newer condensers, where sensors, pressure switches and control boards fail. Hayden's 1990s houses are on their second round of equipment. Coeur d'Alene mixes pre-1940 homes near downtown with new construction, and Dalton Gardens, with a median build year of 1973, has the oldest furnaces and ductwork in the area. Spirit Lake leans on wood stoves and propane more than anywhere else nearby.

Fuel changes the work as well. Gas heats a majority of homes in every town on this list, electricity heats about four homes in ten in Coeur d'Alene, and wood and propane show up mostly in Spirit Lake.

We also cover homes just outside these towns, including Huetter, Stateline and Hayden Lake.
